In what appears to have been kept in
secrecy since President Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 presidential election,
the presidency yesterday broke its silence on the rumours flying around on the whereabouts
of the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
According
to a statement made available in Abuja on Wednesday, May 7, 2015 by Ayo Adewuyi,
Media Assistant to the first lady, Mrs. Jonathan is in Congo alongside other first
ladies of Benin Republic, Senegal, Mali, Chad, Niger and Guinea Conakry for the
celebration of the 30th anniversary of Congo Assistance Foundation, a
non-governmental organisation established in 1984 by the Congolese First Lady,
Madam Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso.
A
week-long activities that include inauguration of a National Centre for Sickle
Cell Disease and events packed grand finale were in place to commemorate the 30th
anniversary of the non-governmental organisation put in place to promote social
action in the areas of health, education and skills acquisition for the indigent
Congolesse.
