Iran Nuclear Talks: Obama Writes Congress on Sanctions Review, as Zarif Hinges Nuclear Enrichment to Sanctions Relief

As all stakeholders in the Iranian’s nuclear talks are making frantic efforts to ensure a speed deal and upward review of the crippling restrictions on Iranian economy, United States President, Barack Obama wrote a letter to the US Congress for a review of sanctions on the Iran. The aim of the letter is to seek the approval of the country’s legislative body towards  possible relief of sanctions and restoration of economy relationship with the Arab country.

This becomes necessary as hardliners in the US congress as well as political gladiators in the nation who are sympathetic of Israel’s concerns, are hard set at ensuring that the sanctions were not lifted to serve as a deterrent to Iran from in her strive for nuclear capability even for peaceful and civilian purposes of power generation as claimed by Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif had also informed the international community that Iran’s continuity of enrichment will be determined by the review of the sanctions and sacrifice on the part of all concerned. The multiple sanctions from many European countries and United States have crippled the Iranian economy growth and pushed many citizen of that country into poverty.

However, as expected, Israel has kicked against the moves to review sanctions and finalise a nuclear deal with Iran. While responding to the latest milestone in the nuclear talks, Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu noted that sanctions should be continued against the Islamic Republic until she ends its regional aggression policy and support for terrorist groups.

Expressing absolute displeasure of his government and the people of Israel to the Iranian nuclear deal, Netanyahu strongly criticized the U.S. led deal with the Iranian government aimed at offering sanctions relief in exchange for cutting down on her nuclear enrichment programme.

Netanyahu strongly warned that a better deal should the tying of sanctions lifting to an Iran's end of aggression in the Middle-east, support for global terrorism as well as its threats of Israel annihilation. Iran is fingered to be aiding regional militant groups such as Hamas in Palestine and Hezbollah in Lebanon that are fighting Israel expansionist policy in the region as well as providing arms support to forces fighting in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
