Overwhelmed
by the unending influx African and Arab Immigrants into the country, Italian
Government through foreign Minister, Pao Gentiloni has called for the support
of other European countries in dealing with the crisis from being snowballed
into a bigger social problem.
The
situation is compounded by civil strives, abject poverty and hardship in the
home countries of origin the undeterred Africans who are fleeing. Government of
Italy said other European countries should not feel unconcerned because their
borders were not as porous and accessible as Italy’s.
As the
issues stand now, there is need for a more proactive and robust action plan to
stem the tide of refugees and undocumented to stop the crisis from getting
worse than it is presently. Already, these migrants are increasingly becoming
object of exploitation by callous and devilish tour operator and traffickers of
human beings. Cases of human beings thrown overboard by other boat passengers
have equally being reported.
A callous
dimension to the experiences of immigrants was introduced recently when it was
reported that fifteen Europe bound illegal Muslim Immigrants threw twelve
Christian passengers into the Mediterranean Sea were arrested by Italian port
police.
The despicable
story was beamed on TV screens worldwide and reported in newspapers around the
world the harrowing experience of the Christian Immigrants who dared to venture
into the Mediterranean Sea to sojourn abroad in search greener pastures in
Europe.
The fifteen
Muslim passengers who perpetrated the dastardly and despicable act were
arrested in Italy on Thursday, April 16, 2015 when other passengers and witnesses
to the inhuman act committed by the Muslim passengers informed the Italian port
policemen on duty.
