Wao: Manchester United Defeated again at Old Trafford

To the chagrin of its supporter Man U lost Saturday’s match to the West Brom at Old Trafford. The Baggies beat the Red Devils one goal to nothing during a match dominated all through by the host Man U. United players made strenuous effort to redeem the team but all shot attempts made did not result to any goal. 

They played well and showed enough determination and aggression that saw them dominate the match all through but goals refused to fall in for the Red Devils as against luck that shone on the vistiting team at 63 minutes+ into the match when Jonas Olsson from the centre of the box puts a shot to the top right corner of United goalpost supported by Chris Brunt. 

The lineup for Manchester United Includes: de Gea (1), A Valencia (25), Smalling (12), McNair (33), Blind (17), Herrera (21), Mata (8), Fellaini (31), Rooney (10), Young (18) and van Persie (20). On United bench for substitution were: Jones (4), Di Maria (7), Falcao (9), Januzaj (11), Valdes (32), Blackett (42) and Pereira (44).

West Bromwich Albion had : Myhill (13), Dawson (25), McAuley (23), Olsson (3), Lescott (6), Gardner (8), Mulumbu (21), Yacob (5), Flecther (24), Brunt (11) and Berahino (18). On the bench were Wisdom (2), Baird (4), Ideye (9), Anichebe (10), McManaman (19) and Rose (38) 

 

Right from the first two minutes into the game, the Red Devils took control, they were aggressive and shot at the Baggies goalkeeper, Boaz Myhill several times without founding the post. The shots were either deflected or went over the bar. All 26 shot attempts made by Man U players Robin van Persie,  Ander Herrera,  Falcao,  Wayne Rooney, Patrick McNair , Juan Mata and Ashley Young on West Brom goalkeeper were futile. van Persie brilliant match effort to put United in the lead or redeem the one goal deficit were equally fruitless, including the Red Devils inability to convert a penalty awarded at 73+ minutes to the team for Saido Berahino's handball in the box area, it was saved by Myhill. 

The match statistics refereed by Anthony Taylor and watched by 75,454 spectators gave Man U ball possession of 80% as against West Brom’s 20%. Shots on target, Man U had 9 and 3 for West Brom. During the match West Brom had 11 fouls as against Man U 10. Nine corners were awarded to Man U and West Brom had 3. Patrick McNair of Manchester United received a yellow card and was booked for a bad foul.

During the match Manchester United replaced Ángel Di María for Daley Blind at the 63minutes, Falcao was substituted for Patrick McNair 83 minutes into the match. The visiting team, West Brom made substitutions at 76, 79 and 89 minutes as Chris Baird replaced Youssuf Mulumbu, Brown Ideye stepped in for Saido Berahino and Andre Wisdom was substituted for Craig Gardner.
