As
warned some weeks back, the people in the coastal part of Japan, Osaki regions are
battling the aftermath of Typhoon Goni, now called Ethau. The inclement weather
condition that reached Philippines with its destructive journey started in the Filipinos
lowland areas in August.
Its
major destructive elements storms and heavy downpours had rendered many people
homeless in the cities of Osaki and Josco in the northeastern part of Japan with
many properties and valuables inundated or totally destroyed.
In
the cities that are hardest hit, floods had taken over major roads and homes.
Many people caught unaware found safety on the roof of their homes to prevent being
washed away by the ravaging water pool which unconfirmed report said may be
contaminated with radioactive particles.
The
elderly were most affected as they could not respond quickly to the devastating
floods precipitated by continuous heavy rainfalls.
Japanese
rose the occasion by deploying its personnel to rescue people from the affected
area. TV footage showed Japanese military personnel rescuing dozens of stranded
residents in Josco, a suburb of Tokyo with population of about 65,000 people,
when Kinugawa River overflow its banks, pushing a flood of muddy water tumbling
into Josco town.
Military helicopter were used by rescuers to pluck people from
the rooftops of their homes. A large portion of the town is completely
submerged living a portion of asphalted road and some other high untouched.
However,
due to early warning, only three people have confirmed dead with twenty-seven
injured reported so far.
