Tourists at the Kruger
National Park on July 10, 2015 will continue to recount their ordeal
as they witnessed two giant male lions took over the road leading into the and
roadkilled an unlucky Budu in full glare of the tourists who were spellbound
while the hunting lasted.
According to Carolyn Dunford, a tourist who was
among the privileged few who watched the live show by the lions that killed the
Budu said she was driving through the open gate when she saw cars in front of
her slowing down and halted. Dunford looked further and noticed two huge male
lions strolling on the road and marking their territory. Surprisingly and out
of nowhere a large Budu emerged from the bushes and one of the wild cats
pounced on it, a struggle ensured creating serious noises and commotions. Sensing the way the hunting adventure was
going the other lion joined the fight.
The Budu had little chance of surviving the onslaught
of the two lions, the fight ended within minutes. The lions afterwards sat comfortably
on the road to enjoy their meals before dragging the remains into the bushes.
