Apparently
acting the script of the Governor Olusegun Mimiko, the State House of Assembly on
Tuesday, April 21, 2015 issued a notice to be served on Deputy Governor, Alhaji
Ali Olanusi.
The
State House of Assembly raised allegations of gross misconduct against Olanusi
who was said to have traveled abroad for medical checkup having written a
letter of intention dated Friday, April 17th, 2015 with Ref. No:
OBG/A/136/67 informing the Governor his desire to go abroad for routine medical
checkup.
Twenty
out of twenty six house members supported the motion to serve the Deputy
Governor with impeachment notice based on seven impeachable offences raised
against him.
According
to political watchers of Ondo State polity, the latest development is nothing but
a backlash of the Deputy Governor defection to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Reacting to the impeachment notice served on
Olanusi, Ondo State Publicity Secretary for APC, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, in a
release said “Baba (the Deputy Governor) had since traveled out on Saturday, 18th
of April , 2015. So it is laughable for the rubber-stamp House of Assembly to
have claimed it has served the deputy Governor an impeachment notice knowing
fully well that the law does not permit serving impeachment in absentia”.
