Malcolm Turnbull, sworn-in as Australian Prime Minister |
Before the dramatic end of Tony Abbott’s
administration, he has been a subject of vitriolic attacks and destructive
criticism by his foes and the Australian billionaire turned politician, Malcolm
Turnbull, a cabinet minister of Abbott’s government. Tony Abbott leadership has
been stiffly challenged by Turnbull’s caucus within the Labour Party for not
doing enough for Australian economy since he assumed office about 2 years ago.
Rising in defense of his administration
shortly after his ouster, Tony Abbott blamed the media for his misfortune and
said he did more for the Australian people even though more still need to be
done. He particularly swiped the press for campaigns of calumny, character
assassination and treachery. Abbott seems hurt by his betrayal and may give
Turnbull’s leadership in the Labour Party a serious challenge in the battle for
the control of the party though from the backseat. Of course, he has his bloc
within party also, strong one for that matter.
Malcolm Turnbull, a law graduate of
Oxford University from a single parent upbringing has since been sworn-in as the fifth Prime Minister in five years. He
has before him the arduous tasks of uniting the party and improves the Australian
economy to receive enough votes during the next elections. Many in Australia
see Turnbull as one of them, a liberal and anti-system personality who has been
in the forefront of climate change and homosexual debate among others.
He has less than six months to carry out
reform and reposition his party in the
eyes of fellow country men and women, this can only be achieve through an
improvement in the economy and security of life for average Australian people.
