Mayweather Beats Pacquiao in the Las Vegas Fight



The Money Man, Floyd Mayweather not only cemented his hold on the WBC and WBA titles on Saturday, he has also added WBO welterweight title held by his challenger and rival, Manny Pacquiao in the Las Vegas.

The boxing clash touted to be the greatest in the recent history of the sport was decided on points after the maximum12 round with the three judges unanimously awarding the fight to Mayweather on point as follows: 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112.


With exception of his (Pacquiao) brilliant performers in the fourth and sixth round the American Money Man dominated the fight all through right from round one to the eleventh and eventual toll of the bell that announced the end of the bout. In both attacking and defensive Mayweather proved himself to be the superior boxer, pound for pound.

By winning the Las Gas fight, Mayweather now has fourth eight (48) unbeaten professional fights that spans 19 years while his Filipino opponent, Manny Pacquiao in his 20years as a career boxer has 57 wins to his credit, six losses and two draws with his WBO title belt gone with the fight.


For this fight said to be most lucrative and well-followed in boxing history, Pac Man and Money Man will split about $230m in a boxing bout that netted $400m in ticket sales alone. The Las Vegas was watched by 16,507 fans and spectator that include famous Americans like American Billionaire, boxing promoter and estate developer, Donald Trump, actors such as Clint Eastwood and Robert De Niro, singers like Sting, Prince and Jamie Foxx, multiple Grammy award winner who led other Americans in the recitation of the American national anthem before boxing bout started.



Tickets for the fight that was promoted for five years were sold through promoters, syndicated media houses and associations giving rooms to speculations and resale that made the tickets price rose as much as $350,000. Many Americans were priced out of the fight’s venue and they watch the fight of moment on television after parting with $100. Also many American stars denied VIP tickets as a result of the scarcity watched the bout behind the press seats.

And contrary to what his father, Mayweather senior said before, the Money Man disclosed after the Las Vegas fight his desire to fight in September before he hangs his gloves in retirement. Probably encouragement by the outcome of this fight and its proceeds, Mayweather want to fight more and may be tempted to aim above Rocky Marciano’s fourth nine (49) unbeaten professional fights.
 
Manny Pacquiao was the man of the match as fans and spectators at the MGM Grand Arena, the venue of the fights hailed and cheered him when he stepped into the ring, about twenty five (25) minutes before Floyd Mayweather’s but was booed by the crowd.
