The
management of the automobile manufacturers in Japan, Suzuki has issued an order
recalling over two (2) million cars with faulty ignition switch.
The
recall according to management was to replace ignition switches that could emit
fumes when they are turned on. The recalled cars include nine models in Japan
as well as Chevrolet Cruze sedans built for General Motors.
None
of the Cruzes recalled were sold in the US but limited to Japanese, European
and Australian automobile markets.
A
breakdown of the cars recalled showed that 1,873,000 were returned in Japan
alone and the models include the Cruze as well as number of key cars built for
Mazda- the Carol and A-Z Wagon. All the affected cars were built between 1998
and 2009. The remaining vehicles consisting of Cruze and others were sold in
Europe and Australia.
