Powerball Jackpot $208 Million: Lottery Player Spills Secrets Of Winning Seven Jackpots

Saturday night's Powerball jackpot is $208 million, but the odds of winning are slim. There's a 175 million to 1 chance your ticket will match all six numbers drawn on September 19, but if you beat the odds, it would be an amazing return on a $2 investment.

Is there a secret to winning the Powerball or is it purely luck? CBS reports that Richard Lustig has a method that he claims helped him win a $98,000 Powerball jackpot in 2010 and seven other grand prizes in the popular lottery game.

Lustig won't give all of his tips away because he wants you to buy his book Learn How To Increase Your Chances of Winning The Lottery. However, he says that players can increase their chances of winning the jackpot by ditching the "Quick Pick" option and picking numbers manually. Read more at: http://tr.im/rnyC9

However, the folks at Lottery World don't agree with Lustig's theory and state that Quick Picks give players "a better chance of covering the number matrix." Between 70 and 80 percent of players choose Quick Picks when buying their tickets and there have been a number of jackpot winning tickets that have come from the random method of number picking.

However, if you're convinced that Lustig is right, you may want to try picking the numbers manually. The official Powerball site has a list of numbers that were drawn more often than others over the past 14 years if you want to base your selection on the most popular numbers. Over the past 14 years, the #20 red ball (Powerball) has been selected the most often (49 times).

Of the five white balls that lottery players have to pick from, number 26 is drawn most often, followed by 20, 32, 16 and 42. Picking these numbers may or may not bring you more luck than letting a machine randomly pick your Powerball numbers.

There is no sure-fire way of winning the jackpot — if there was, everyone would be winning and the pot would be split among thousands of ticket holders.
