As preparations towards the fight said to be the most expensive and lucrative in the history boxing coming up in Las Vegas on Saturday continue, the duo of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather were watched by 11,500 fans as each take turn to weigh on scale.

Media report had it that each entrant into the weigh-in venue inside MGM Grand Garden Arena parted with $10 but some paid $800 or more as tickets changed hands on resale depending on the agent. The first in the history of the sport to have attracted ticket sales and proceeds is expected to go into charity causes. Fans present at weigh-in that lasted some hours were entertained by Rapper Flo Rida and other artistes.

Pacquiao and Mayweather are looking forward to a title clash that will either see Mayweather retaining his WBC, and WBA welterweight titles as well as taking WBO title held by Pacquiao lose them to Pacquiao in a fight that hopes to generate about $400m in fight-cuts.

At the scale Pacquiao weighs145lb while Mayweather was said to be 146lb. In terms of height, Mayweather has height advantage over Pacquiao as he measures 5ft 8ins while Pacquiao is 5ft 6½ins with a reach difference of five inches but Pac Man is not bothered as he said: I've been fighting bigger guys - Oscar De La Hoya, Antonio Margarito. It doesn't matter to me.

Based on past record, the holder of WBA and WBC belts, 38-year-old Mayweather who has 47 unbeaten record with 26 knock-outs in all his professional fights said with his experience and skills he would be to be victorious.

On his part, Pacquiao who has won in 57 bouts with 38 knock-outs, 2 draws and suffered 5 defeats from 64 fights since taking to professional boxing said: it is a great responsibility on his part to give enjoyment to the fans. The fans deserve to have a good fight, whether they are a fan of Mayweather or Pacquiao.

The title clash venue, MGM Grand Garden Arena has 16,000 seating capacity and all the tickets for the fight were sold through promoters, television stations and boxing associations among others. Only 500 tickets were sold directly to the public and were snapped within seconds of being made public.

The restricted sale of the tickets had created economic space for racketeering and tickets when changing hands were sold as much as $350,000 while those who are willing to watch the fight in one of the 10 closed-circuit centres bought tickets $3,500 apiece.
