On Thursday, a nationwide roadshows that targeted State Governors across Nigeria, National Assembly as well as Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC) were staged by Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) and Trade Union Congress(TUC) to advocate capital punishments for any public officials who were found wanting.
They admonish the Federal Government led by
President Muhammad Buhari to take the issue of treasury looting serious and not
to treat it with kid’s glove but lay all the necessary foundation that will
ensure accountability at all levels of governance in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, controversial Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday described the nationwide anti-corruption protests of the organised labour as a mere jamboree. The governor, who said “no political office holders can steal without the cooperation of the civil servants,” urged the labour unions, predominantly civil servants, to purge themselves of corruption.Fayose said this while receiving the protesters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
