who reportedly have Ashley Madison account has killed himself. Pastor John Gibson, 56, a
New Orleans Baptist pastor was reported to have had an account on the
controversial cheaters' website Ashley Madison
has committed suicide by taken his own life.
Pastor John Gibson, who was said to
be battling depression, was found dead by his wife less than a week after hackers exposed
the names of account owners on the adultery website. His wife, Christi, said he
left a suicide note addressing his struggles with depression and his remorse
surrounding the Ashley Madison saga. "He talked about having his name on
there, and he said he was just very, very sorry," Christi told CNNMoney.
She explains how John spent his life
helping others but could not help himself. "It wasn't so bad that we wouldn't
have forgiven it, and so many people have said that to us, but for John, it
carried such a shame," she said. She also added that he was afraid he
would lose his job.
Since John’s death, his family has
vowed to be more transparent with one another about their struggles. He left
behind two children. In a statement to CNN, a spokesman for Avid Life Media, Ashley Madison's
parent company, expressed the firm's condolences.
"Dr. Gibson's passing is a
stark, heart-wrenching reminder that the criminal hack against our company and
our customers has had very real consequences for a great many innocent
people."
The world is yet to hear the end of the atrocities being committed by Ashley Madison hackers and their nefarious escapade.
